My charge port is located on the side of my phone. Can I still charge my phone while it’s mounted in my car?

Absolutely! Just detach the support bar located at the bottom of the cradle, and you can easily mount your phone with the charge port exposed.

Will the blade fit into a cassette tape slot?

Unfortunately not, but check back soon. We’re currently developing an adapter.

Will the blade activate the CD’s auto loader?

The plastic blade is not long enough to activate the auto loading function on most CD players. All CD players are made differently, however, so in the event the plastic blade activates any internal mechanisms, discontinue use immediately.

Can I listen to my CDs at the same time?

Technically yes, you can listen to your CDs even while the mount is installed. However, we advise that you eject any CDs in your single CD player or multi-disc changer before installing the nGroove Snap mount. If you do choose to listen to CDs while using our mount, do not eject CDs with the nGroove Grip in place. Failure to comply may cause permanent damage to your CD player.

Will the mount work with the specific make and model of my car?

Our team rarely encounters a car that doesn’t permit nGroove Grip installation, but we cannot guarantee that it will work in all cars. Not all cars have a front-loading CD slot or adequate dashboard grooves, for example. The nGroove Grip will not fit TomTom GPS units with a protruding rear speaker. If you’re not sure about compatibility, send us a photo of your car stereo at support@mountek.zendesk.com. One of our experts will be happy to provide an honest opinion. If our mount isn’t compatible with your car, return it within 90-days for a hassle-free refund.

My CD player has a rubber/cloth dust guard. Will the mount damage it?

The depth of the nGroove Grip blade is 16mm or .63". If the depth of your dust guard is shorter than this, the mount may cause it to appear warped or wrinkled. Note: You must completely loosen the blade's tightening wheel before removing it from the CD slot. Otherwise, removal could damage your dust guard. Please take these factors into consideration before purchasing the mount.

How does the nGroove Snap hold my device?

The nGroove Snap generates a magnetic field to hold handheld devices that have a metal Mountek badge. Without this badge, the nGroove Snap cannot hold your device. *The nGroove Snap currently ships with three badges (2x .5mm thickness; 1x .25mm thickness). NOTE: The thicker badges have stronger attraction to the magnetic nGroove Snap adapter.

Can I place the metal badge inside my phone case?

Yes, this method is actually recommended. However, there are some cases that may be too thick or heavy for the nGroove Snap. Wondering if your phone and/or case is suitable for the nGroove Snap? Send our support team an email with the manufacturer name and model, and we'll give you our best opinion.

I don't use a case on my phone, and I don't want to stick the badge to it. Can I put the metal badge underneath my battery cover?

Our badge actually fits under the battery door of Samsung's Galaxy S3, but for most other phones this may not be possible.

Will the nGroove Snap hold an iPad?

Due to dimensions and weight, full-size tablets are not recommended for use with the nGroove Snap's car mounting features. But the nGroove Snap functions great as a desktop stand or tripod adapter for large tablets.

Where can I buy extra metal badges?

Extra badges and other replacement items are available for sale in the Spare Parts of our website.

What if my device is too heavy?

You may want to try placing the badge onto the outside of your device case for direct metal-to-magnet contact. If your device still does not hold adequately, please contact support for alternative product recommendations.

Will magnets erase the data on my phone?

Most mobile devices available today use SD cards or solid state drives. But if your device uses a spinning hard-drive, such as an early generation iPod, the nGroove Snap can erase its data.

Will magnets interfere with GPS functions?

The nGroove Snap should not interfere with your device's GPS applications, as they rely primarily on satellites, but we do on some occasions receive user reports of GPS interference - specifically with compass functions.

Will magnets interfere with NFC functions?

Individuals who rely on near field communication (NFC) for radio communication, including data exchange, may experience impaired function for this process when a device is docked on the nGroove Snap. Avoid placing the nGroove Snap metal badge directly over the NFC chip located on your device.

Will magnets interfere with compass functions?

Compass functions can be impaired by a magnetic field. Please be aware of this when using the compass on your device.

Can I buy extra magnets?

You may have noticed 3 additional cavities in the magnetic adapter. However, installing extra magnets is not recommended for most devices. So extra magnets are not available for sale at this time.

If I stick the badge to the back of my device, can it be removed?

We use 3M tape for the strongest hold, but the easiest method to remove a badge is to gently warm the sticky adhesive with a blow dryer. Please use common sense, and don't melt your device by excessive heat!

Where is the best place to place the metal badge?

We typically recommend placing the metal badge underneath your cell phone case. In this case, the badge's sticky adhesive may not be necessary and you can even leave its protective film on. But for larger devices (such as the iPad Mini) or phones with thick/heavy cases, the best option will be to apply the badge directly to the back of the device or case for direct metal-to-magnet contact.

What is the difference between the original nGroove Snap and the nGroove Snap 2?

The nGroove Snap 2 is the next-generation version of the popular nGroove Snap for seamless digital device mounting. Brand-new features include full rubberized blade grips, and elegant gray-on-black profile.
